Matchmaker Bookshop is a new independent bookstore in Highland Park, located in a charming two-story house on Second Street. The shop is a general-interest bookstore, with a focus on new titles for all ages. It features a robust children’s section to cater to the area's young families, and also places a special emphasis on popular genres such as romance and horror. Beyond books, the shop features a curated and rotating selection of gifts, stationery, candles, stuffed animals, and branded merchandise.

The bookstore is the realization of a lifelong dream for owner Lauren Cardick, who shifted from her career to pursue her passion. The name "Matchmaker Bookshop" was inspired by the theme of matchmaking that she encountered in a book she read, which resonated with her desire to connect readers with their perfect book. She believes in the "alchemy that happens when the right book gets into the right hands." Her goal is not only to sell books, but also to foster a community of book lovers and create a special, sacred place for people to gather.

Matchmaker Bookshop is more than just a place to buy books; it's a destination for events and community engagement. The store has an upstairs space with a conference room and a children's play area, as well as a large back patio.
